Program Overview 

The LL.B. degree at RGSL is a three-year full-time program that covers 183 ECTS credits, delivered in English. This program offers a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between law and business, preparing graduates for successful careers in both legal practice and business management. 


Key Features: 

  • International Perspective: Focuses on the legal environment of the European Union and major global trading partners like the United States and China. 

  • Comprehensive Curriculum: Includes mandatory courses in various legal fields, such as Constitutional Law, International Human Rights Law, and European Company Law, alongside business subjects like Marketing, Financial Accounting, and Business Strategy. 

  • Electives and Language Courses: Choose from electives in law, business, and international relations, and enhance your skills with language courses. 

  • Flexible Study Structure: Each course spans six weeks with five class hours per week, complemented by research and exam preparation. The program concludes with a Bachelor Thesis. 


Curriculum Highlights 


Mandatory Courses: 

  • Law and research: Academic English, Introduction to Law, Legal Philosophy, Constitutional Law, EU Law, International Commercial Law, and more. 

  • Business and economis: Introduction to Business Studies, Microeconomics, Business Accounting, Marketing, Financial Economics, Risk Management, and more. 

  • Elective Courses: From International Humanitarian Law to Geo-economics and International Criminal Law. 

Optional Courses: 

  • Languages: Elementary Latvian, French Beginner, Spanish Beginner, and Latin. 

  • Internship: Opportunity to gain practical experience in the field. 



Admission Criteria 

To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  • English Proficiency: A minimum of B2 level, demonstrated by: 

  • IELTS Academic (score of at least 6.0) 

  • TOEFL (score of at least 550; computer-based: 213; internet-based: 80) 

  • Centralized English examination results (for Latvian students) 

  • Applicants who have acquired previous education in English or are native English speakers are exempted from taking Proficiency tests in English. 

  • Applicant is also exempted from Proficiency tests in English if he/she has completed secondary education in a European Union, European Economic Area country, or the Swiss Confederation and his/her secondary education certificate includes English proficiency assessment that equals to B2 (or higher) level of the Common European Framework of Reference 

  • Academic Requirements: Secondary general education results with an average grade of C or higher. 

  • Interview: May be required.

  • Duration: 3 years full-time 

  • Language: English 

Tuition Fee: EUR 4,100 per academic year

  • Lawyer (National or International): Practicing law in Latvia or abroad, particularly in international law, human rights, or EU law.

  • Corporate Lawyer: Advising businesses on legal issues like contracts, compliance, and mergers.

  • Legal Consultant: Offering legal guidance to companies, NGOs, or government bodies.

  • Diplomat: Working in international relations and representing Latvia or other countries in global affairs.

  • EU Law Specialist: Advising on legal matters related to the European Union, given Latvia's EU membership.

  • Policy Advisor: Shaping and advising on national or international public policy.

  • In-house Legal Counsel: Providing legal services within corporations.

  • Compliance Officer: Ensuring company adherence to legal regulations, particularly in international markets.

Scholarships 

RGSL offers grants for for 2nd and 3rd year bachelor students with the highest grades in the previous study year. RGSL offers also Early Admission Discount which is 10 % discount to the study fee.  


Latvian State Scholarships are also available for students from some countries. Latvian State Scholarshops are available for students who have successfully completed at least one academic year of studies either in their home country or in Latvia.  Read more from here
