Program detail:


  • Degree: Bachelor of Engineering, Agri-food Engineering

  • Length of studies: 240 ECTS credits, 4 years

  • Language of instruction: English

  • Teaching time: Daytime teaching

  • Form of teaching: Contact teaching, Online teaching


    The application process for direct and joint applications will be in January 2025.


Structure of studies:


Consists of basic and vocational studies, internships promoting professional skills (30 ECTS), free-choice studies, and a final thesis (15 ECTS). The extent of the annual studies is 60 ECTS, click here to see in detail.


Studies are divided into following themes:

  • Basic engineering and natural sciences, including chemical and microbiological lab skills

  • Agri-food process: agricultural production, food technology, processing, and packaging

  • Sustainable management in agri-food business

  • Select two from: food processing, hygienic design, automation, digitalisation, and food process development

  • Practical learning through training, projects, and final thesis

Tuition fees

  • Bachelor's degree programs in English: €9,500 per academic year

  • Master's degree programs in English: €11,500 per academic year


Scholarships


Bachelor's Degree:

  • Early Bird scholarship: 10% of the tuition fee

  • In the first academic year, the Early Bird scholarship is €950

  • Students can also apply for a scholarship based on their Finnish language. The scholarships range from €2,000 to €3,000, depending on the level of Finnish language proficiency achieved (A1, A2, B1).


Master's Degree:

  • Early Bird scholarship: 10% of the tuition fee

  • In the first academic year, the Early Bird scholarship is €1,150 

  • Continuing students can receive a 10% discount (€1,150) if they pay the next year’s tuition fee in March

Career opportunities

After graduating from Agri-food Engineering at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, engineers in agri-food processing will work in key positions in related industries. Graduates from the programme may work in food production, quality control, process development, or designing equipment and facilities for the agri-food industry. Other possible positions include inspection, supervision and teaching in both municipalities and governmental bodies.

Applicants have to usually prove English language skills by an internationally recognized language test (such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE). Applicant has to have completed usually upper secondary education as well.
